Lon reviews Spazz Tees Anarski Week

Never Summer sponsor Anarski WeekThe Anarski week is the creation of Ludo Canu, owner of Spazz tees and was held during the 17th to the 24th of January in the lovely snowy resort of Le Grand Bornand, France. It was an amazingly epic week with coaches such as top skier Charlie Smith and Never Summer’s own Callum Wilkin and of course some great sponsors, including Spazz Clothing, Snowpark GB, Cool Boards and Never Summer, who‘d donated some sick prizes and their new range of RC snowboards to demo.

Even though the weather wasn’t always perfect, everyone had an excellent time and photographers, Jools Smith and Mike Britain were hard at work taking pictures all through the week.

For some, it was their first time on a real mountain, and they were riding the park and shredding the powder like they had been there their whole lives. With a great selection of kickers, ranging from 3 to 22 metres, it wasn’t long before everyone had built enough confidence to hit the 17 metre red jumps, it was awesome seeing everyone going for it and trying new tricks, it really gives you a great sensation that only amplifies the awesome feeling of being in the mountains.

Undeterred by a couple of bad weather days, we all undertook the building of our very own mini park in the back garden, which consisted of 2 jumps, a giant quarter pipe that ran up the side of the house, and a 16 foot rail, kindly loaned by our friends Nico and Tibo, who run the snowpark.

To top it all, we stayed in an amazing chalet, only a short walk from the lifts, and were served with the best grub ever… Three courses of pure delicious freshly cooked French food, all prepared by local top Chef Marc Bosse. Every meals was then followed with a little trip to the very friendly Green Monkey Pub for a couple of drinks. It was really surprising to see how everyone had gelled together from day one, which made the whole camp a kind, friendly environment, perfect for just chilling out and having the best time ever.

At the end of the week, some of the riders were invited to show off their skills at the invitational KGB night session, which was taking place in the middle of the town. The guys KGB crew had created a huge setup with run-ins coming off the roof of the ice rink and into a huge set of kickers, with rails at the bottom. British riders like Charlie Smith, Harry Hancock, Joe Hides, Callum Wilkin and James Webb who had made the journey from nearby Morzine, were out in force, showing that the Brits can hold their own, and gaining a lot of respect in the process, all and all, it was a great night.

Camp organiser Ludo Canu, says that following this year’s huge success, more camps are planned for next winter. So keep an eye out for the new dates. All freestylers, regardless of level, are welcome, so if you’re looking for an action packed week of progression, fun and laughs, this will the place to be, so we hope to see you all at ANARSKI WEEK PART DEUX 2010!!!!

And a huge shout out to Ludo Canu for making this all possible.
